Introduction & Submission Guidelines
Resistance is as human to us as is our need to be in community. Awatum is seeking poems and short stories exploring the overcoming of oppression. Personal, historical, imaginative, the stories matter—and deserve to be heard.
Open to writers worldwide, 18+
Work must be original and unpublished (online publications on blogs are fine)
Length:
Poems: 5-10 poems (no page limit) We are looking for fleshed out poems
Short stories: 3000-6000 words (shorter pieces are weighed on merit for publication)
Typed, 12-point Times Roman, double-spaced, and standard margins
Pdf and Docx format Please include contact information and a short bio of 150 words
Grand Prize
6 poets and/or authors will receive $200;
shared earnings of any awards totaling 50%, split between the contributors;
publication in the anthology with a dedicated author's bio;
1 copy of the anthology.
Secondary Prize
Based on merit, honorable mentions will be considered outside of the grand prize winners and will receive:

PRIZES
All submissions will go through blind peer review. Please submit a short bio, no more than 150 words. Bios are used for printing of selected winners/authors and not for review. Please submit poems to awatum@ofeverything.co by July 31st. Notification of acceptance will happen on or before September 1st.
The edited volume will be released in the summer of 2026, printed by Awatum Press and distributed through the traditional distribution side of Lightning Source (No POD). Artists retain the rights to ownership but must attribute the anthology and press if publishing online or elsewhere. Submission is free.
